So, went down to New Orleans (pronunciation: New Or-linz) today, went to the French Quarter, had some coffee at Cafe du Monde (Pronunciation: Ca-fe du Mond, Meaning: The World Cafe), a very, very much visited cafe in New Orleans, and strolled through the French Market they have there, which is kind of like, a large flea market/farmers market.
This was a pretty good jazz band playing right outside of Cafe du Monde
These are a couple of pictures of what I think was one of the coolest looking stalls in the French Market, called by some, The Legolady, these are only about a quarter of what this young lady had available. They are all specialized lego figures, she also had something available where she did your name in legos, in some way.
Those legos were definitely pretty neat. Did you like the praline candy?
ReplyDeleteThat band was pretty awesome, wasn't it?
I loved New Orleans!
ReplyDeleteBeen there many times!
Was originally one of our top 5 retirement spots.
Well, until Katrina changed our minds.
Did you get a chance to eat a Muffuletta! So good!
I didn't, as I was a newcomer, I just went with the standard du Monde fair, the Cafe au Lait and Beignets, and, like a typical know-nothing, didnt reaize that 'au lait' means with milk lol, but it was all pretty good, nice weather, good music, crowded (but thats ok). Thanks for stopping by Wayne
DeleteYes, cafe au lait. Coffee with milk. :-)
ReplyDeleteNext time you go, do the cemetery tour.
Really interesting!
And of course, besides a muffuletta, you have to eat a big bowl of gumbo! Yummy!
I will try it, whenever I get a chance to go down there, I am planning to do a weekend or few day trip down there sometime
